Screening Information
NMICE Background Check Information and Approved Volunteers
Per the USA Hockey SafeSport Program Handbook, those who need to be screened include:
- Members of the Affiliate Board of Directors
- Local program administrators (association board members and volunteers)
- Coaches
- Team managers
- Oficials
- Locker room monitors
- Team drivers
- Travel chaperones
- Anyone with routine access to youth participants.
- The Affiliate and/or local program may require that additional persons be screened.
Background Check
Background checks are valid for two years. Please look on your USA Hockey confirmation email towards the bottom to find the link to the NCSI background check through USA Hockey. It is personalized to you - you will need your confirmation number.
SafeSport Training
All USA Hockey registered coaches, officials, employees, and volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and work with youth in any USA Hockey member association must obtain SafeSport Certification. There is no cost for the course and certification. The training is provided by the US Center for SafeSport. You must register with USA Hockey - registration for volunteers is free.
Concussion Training
All Coaches and Team Managers of hockey teams within the jurisdiction of the Land of Enchantment Amateur Hockey Association are required to complete the CDC Online Concussion Training and have a copy of the Certificate of Completion in the Team Book along with other required credentials.
