Managers & Volunteers
Team Managers Needed!
The Team Manager is the support for the coaching staff. The primary duty is to communicate with parents about any team news or schedule changes.
The Team Manager is responsible for:
- Maintaining the team binder and bringing it to every practice and game
- Preparing score sheets for home games and having a roster list/sticker available for away games.
- Securing volunteers to help in the scorekeepers and time clock booth for home games.
- Securing volunteers for the penalty box for both home and away games.
- Scheduling Locker Room Monitors for all practices and games.
- Coordinating the team's End of Season Celebration.
USA Hockey requires Team Managers to have a background screening and SafeSport Training (about 2 hrs) before any off-ice communication with players.
Manager Meetings
Meetings will be scheduled once the new team managers have been identified for the season. Training sessions for scorekeeping (paper and electronic) and timing volunteers will be scheduled shortly after practices start. Please make sure you have registered with USA Hockey as a Volunteer (FREE) and completed your background check (valid for 2 years) and free SafeSport training (every year).
Team Binder Requirements
A 3-ring notebook binder or pocket folder will be provided if needed.
Include:
- Approved USAH 1T Roster (from NMICE Registrar)
- Approved Team Travel Permit
- Concussion Certificate for each Coach & Manager
- Recommended: extra blank forms/paper/pens, up-to-date roster stickers, a cheat sheet of player names and numbers for games, and the process for filing an injury report.
Locker Room Monitor
It is the policy of USA Hockey that there be at least one responsible (screened) adult present monitoring the locker room during all team events. As such, each team will assign a Locker Room Monitor during each game, practice, and other applicable team events.
The Locker Room Monitor on duty for each team will be responsible for monitoring the locker room during practices and games, as appropriate, in an effort to prevent, reduce, and eliminate adverse and harmful behavior and uphold a safe environment and the USA Hockey Safe Sport Program.
The Locker Room Monitor should report any adverse behavior or events to the Safe Sport Coordinator or a Board Member.
No cameras (including cell phones) allowed in the locker room
Under no circumstances are males allowed in the GIRLS locker room. That includes Dad! Male coaches are only permitted in the GIRLS locker room IF the team is dressed AND there is an adult female team official present in the locker room (for pre-game talks or pre-practice instruction). Similarly, females are not allowed in co-ed team locker rooms above the Squirt age division. Female players will dress in a separate locker room and may join the team only for pre-game talks or pre-practice instruction if the rest of the team is dressed.
Locker room cleanliness is the players′ responsibility. Coaches & Locker Room Monitor will police the locker room after every game or practice to ensure that it is picked up.
