Ice Wolves Need Our Help
Hello Hockey Families.
The New Mexico Ice Wolves are looking for caring local families who have a little extra room in their hearts and homes to become host families for our players.
Junior hockey thrives because of the incredible support of host families. Each season, dedicated young athletes between the ages of 17 and 20 leave their homes across the United States, Canada, and Europe to pursue their dreams of playing NCAA Division I or III Hockey and, for many, continuing their careers at the professional level. While they work tirelessly on the ice, they also need a welcoming place to call home.
As a host family, you provide much more than a place to stay—you offer encouragement, stability, and a supportive family environment during one of the most important chapters of a young athlete’s life. In return, many host families discover they gain far more than they ever expected.
“Our host players became part of our family. Our kids gained older brothers, and we gained lifelong friends.” Kristine Gallegos / Host Family
For families with younger children, hosting an Ice Wolves player can be an incredible experience. Your children have the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a positive role model who demonstrates discipline, responsibility, respect, perseverance, and commitment every day. They witness firsthand what it takes to pursue big dreams through hard work and dedication, while sharing in the excitement of practices, game nights, team events, and victories. Many parents say their children look up to their host player like an older brother, creating memories and friendships that last long after the season ends.
Host families often tell us that what begins as opening their home to a player quickly becomes welcoming another member of the family. Lifelong friendships are formed, and many players return years later to visit the families who helped them along their journey.
Whether you are interested in hosting a player for a few weeks or for the entire season, your generosity can make a lasting impact—not only on a young athlete pursuing his dreams, but also on your own family.
