The Biscuit League is a house hockey season of 9 division games followed by playoffs to win the GRAVY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP.
League Play: Games are 3 run time periods of 17 minutes. Penalties = Penalty Shot.
A tie at the end of regulation play will be settled by a 3 person shoot-out.
Team Standings: Team standings after all 9 games have been played will determine the seeding for the semi-final round of playoffs. Win = 3 points; SO win = 2 points; SO loss = 1 point; Loss = 0. A points tie will be settled by head-to-head record (each team plays the others a total of 3 times, the best of the 3 will win the tie-breaker).
Playoffs: Semi-final games are determined by team standings - 1st place team will host 4th place team; 2nd place team will host 3rd place team. Winners of each semi-final game will progress to the final game where the victor will be awarded the GRAVY CUP CHAMPIONS title.
NEW RULE THIS SEASON:
All players who competed at the Travel level during the 2025–26 season will be limited to 2 individual goals per game. Any goal scored beyond the 2-goal limit will be ruled no goal and result in an offensive zone faceoff.
If a player who has already reached the 2-goal maximum draws a penalty, the coach will select another eligible player currently on the ice to take the penalty shot.
If the game goes to a shootout, players who have already reached the 2-goal maximum during regulation will not be eligible to participate until every other player on the team has taken a shootout attempt.
Referees and scorekeepers will be responsible for enforcing this rule during games. Coaches and players should be aware of the rule and strategize accordingly through line combinations and teaching game concepts that help create balanced team success.
WHY WE ARE IMPLEMENTING THIS RULE:
The Biscuit League is a skill development league. Our focus is on helping players build habits that translate to long-term success in hockey.
We want to encourage every player to be accountable away from the puck by moving their feet, supporting teammates, creating space, and working together as a team. Hockey development is about learning how to compete, communicate, and contribute every shift.
For 2026–2027, NMICE will again offer two Biscuit League sessions- September through November and January through March.
