NMICE welcomes volunteer coaches certified by the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program.  If you are interested in coaching youth hockey, please contact the NMICE Board at board@nmice.org .  Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are appointed to teams by the NMICE Board.

In the 2007-2008 season, NMICE will offer HOUSE  and HS team coaches a $125  discount on player registration fees for children of a head coach or assistant coach (2 coaches per team only).

Coaches  need to register on-line as coaches  for the season with USA Hockey  prior to being appointed to a team .  This fee is reimbursable.    NMICE Coaches and all personnel involved with children within the Association also must submit to a background check.   NMICE Risk Management Director Gary Joffe will contact all staff regarding this process at the beginning of the season.  (Gary Joffe  RiskMan@nmice.org)

The USA Hockey Coaching Education Program offers five levels of certification, from INITIATION Level 1 to the MASTER Level 5. All coaches must be certified at the appropriate level for the particular age group with which they are coaching. After attaining Level 1 certification, coaches have three years to attend a Level 2 certification clinic and then have three subsequent years to achieve Level 3 status, depending on the level they are coaching.

** Please note that USA Hockey does not allow coaches to certify at Level 2 and 3 in the same year, but Levels 1 & 2 can be attained within the same year.  After reaching Level 3, coaches must recertify in person or on-line after 3 years.
