The Travel Team Program is designed for boys and girls from any NM hockey association seeking to increase their skills through a more competitive level of play and increased ice time. Placement on a Travel Team is by tryout, which will be held during August for PeeWee ,Bantam and Midget age players. Travel Team Players must be registered on a HOUSE team with NMICE or within his/her home association where possible. The Team Managers/Parents of each team, in coordination with the NMICE Board, plan the frequency of practices and travel for games and tournaments outside Albuquerque. Travel Teams are encouraged to organize home tournaments and arrange “home on home” games with out-of-state USA Hockey Associations.
Registration fees for the Travel Team include ice time only. Jersey, socks, additional ice time or dryland training fees, tournament fees and travel costs are the responsibility of the parents and players and are not included in the registration fees. No additional registration through USA Hockey is needed for Travel players if they have already done so for their House team.
The fee for the 2007-2008 season for Travel Teams is $375 for PeeWee (2 hours shared practices per week), $700 for Bantams ( 2 hrs full ice practices per week) and $1120 ( 3 hrs full ice practice/wk) for Midget AA NM Storm. Ice time for travel teams will be scheduled through NMICE at Outpost Ice Arena from early September 2007 through early March 2008.
Travel Teams will hold try-outs in August. Please see our website for information on dates for try-outs. There will be a $50 non-refundable Try Out fee to be paid at the 1st try-out session for all teams. Players are encouraged to attend each try-out session scheduled for individual age groups.
Financial aid/ scholarships are NOT available for Travel Team registration fees. Fundraising in the form of sponsorships and/or sales that are planned by Travel Teams may offset expenses and must be approved by the NMICE Board prior to the start of fundraising. |
